About me
Hi there, I'm Madeline and I'm a PhD Candidate in the Discipline of Archaeology at the University of Sydney. With Bachelor's degrees in Archaeology and Marine Science, my research looks at early human occupation and adaptation to changing coastal conditions on the southern coast of Sri Lanka throughout the mid-Holocene. My research incorporates spatial assessments using satellite imagery as well as in-field surveying.
I am the Archaeology Research Support Officer in the Tom Austen Brown Archaeology Research Hub at the University of Sydney, which involves coordinating and supporting Archaeological projects, fieldwork, and running the Archaeology labs.
Additionally, I specialise in photogrammetry and have trained students in object-based and close-range photogrammetry for over 8 years in Australia and overseas. I have my Remote Pilot sub 25 kg license and have conducted photogrammetry using drones, rigged GoPros to collect imagery underwater, used 6m poles to collect aerial imagery using DLSRs, as well as designed a methodology to create accurate models of small archaeological material, which I have recently written a manual about. I'm also a photographer in my spare time and a violinist!
